I was student teaching 8th grade students this semester. It was a math class and the students were frustrated. One of the students could not get the concept so she called herself retarded. I stopped the lesson and told her from now on the R word is banned in this class. It hurt me when she said the word. Below are some interesting things I have come across and wanted to share.
